Small, No-Frills Neat & Clean Hotel

Any hotel suggestions with which you have had personal experiences during your stays in Rome, NEAR VATICAN?
We are traveling for pleasure, not driving in Rome & our exercise will be the miles we walk everyday. Don't need bells & whistles. Wld like breakfast included, but it usually is in Europe.

Jennie, when are you going and what is your budget? That info will help those here to suggest hotels that might work for you.

Unfortunately, or maybe not, My appointment is 3 days before canonization of Blessed Pope John Paul II & Pope John XIII; that is April 25-29.

That means hotel prices have doubled (at least). Hope to not spend price of 4 Star hotels.

Why near the Vatican? That is not centrally located or that convenient to get to. Sometimes you might get better responses if you post under the Italy section rather than general Europe. But don't dual post.

Thank you, Frank Tresana of Highlands Ranch. I choose to stay near Vatican because I have an appointment there, & I love walking to Vatican after dinner where I enjoy reading & watching people. I can get to other parts of Rome when I want to do so. However, haven't been to Vatican in quite a while, so looking for hotel suggestions.
Any small hotel suggestions?

While we are waiting for your response to Susan's question before we can give specifics, have you thought that while all the activity around the Vatican that week will hit prices in that area heavily, the further you get from the Vatican, towards Campo dei Fiori or Termini for example, the lesser the impact will be. Probably around Termini the impact may be negligible. If you want to save money that may be your answer. Is your appointment at a particularly difficult time of day?

Jennie: RonInRome.com is probably the best place to read about Rome, including accommodations.
