Slavonice or Telc

Hi, traveling from Budapest to Prague by auto and would like to stop for 2 nights in between for a 'village experience". Was looking at Slavonice or Telc. Has anyone had any experience in either? which would you recommend or do you have a better stop?

They are both pretty, Telc (pronounced Telch) is prettier and also on UNESCO list. Both made it into Rick Steves book Prague & the Czech Republic. Despite that Slavonice is almost non-touristy. You will see tourists in Telc but nothing to compare to Prague or Cesky Krumlov. Telc is between two lakes with a long and very beautiful square and a chateau.

Telc is more picturesque, but keep in mind that this is really a very small town. Basically just a market square with a castle. It doesn't take long to see everything. Maybe consider a second stop... Mikulov is a very nice small town too (with Lednice and Valtice (World Heritage Site) or the Wachau valley (also a WHS) in Austria (with Dürnstein, Melk and Göttweig abbey).
PS: the last time I was in Telc it was actually quite crowded. Getting a good pic of the market square was impossible!
