World Airline Awards just announced for 2016.
As usual, the ones subsidized by wealthy governments top the list.
David,
It's interesting to note that Ryanair didn't even make the top 100, while their competitor easyJet did.
And of those US owned airlines that are making record profits, only Virgin America, #25, and Delta, #35, broke the top 50. (Jetblue 53, Alaska 60, United 68, American 77)
Of the Top Ten, ANA All Nippon, Eva Air, Qantas and Lufthansa are privately owned.
Cathay Pacific and Turkish have minority government share holdings.
I was actually surprised to see Norwegian at no. 30, considering it is a "budget" airline. We're flying to Germany on Norwegian in a couple of months, so this is good to see :)
