Not a question (perhaps should belong on graffiti wall....), however, a cautionary tale if useful to anyone:
This morning I was loading a tiny bit more credit onto a Skype account when I was told my credit card was declined. Upon calling the credit card company, the customer service person said my card had been compromised and therefore they closed it down and then he mentioned Skype is known for suffering these breaches, even tho' he could not say for sure if that was the actual cause. So I have lost my favorite credit card for this trip because they cannot replace it before our departure....another good reason not to procrastinate on such things!

Julianne, I don't use Skype but thanks for the warning! I always travel with a Cell phone, so that's my preferred method for communicating. Your post is a good reminder to always have a "backup" credit card. Good luck!

We have used Skype for years without a problem. Since your card was declined when you tried to use it on Skype, it must've been compromised before you visited the site.

I had my card used by Skype to pay for several hundred dollars for accounts not at all related to me. My credit card company also told me they have all kinds of issues with Skype. I closed the account

On the other side of the coin, I've had a card linked to Skype for many years - I forget how many, maybe a dozen - and never had any trouble. Now that its on my iPhone it is so much easier to use than the computer with speakers and microphone. It is just like making any other call from the phone but the price is so much better.
