Skiing the Alps - but where?

Skiing in the Alps can be great fun - and quite expensive. The ADAC German Automobile Association and international partner of the American Automobile Association conducted a survey of more than 200 Alpine skiing resorts in France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Austria. Question was: How much is one week for a couple of two, 3-star accommodation including half-board and a 6 days lift ticket per person? They then grouped the results by country and found out that the average price for that package was: Germany: €910Austria: €1109Italy: €1230Switzerland: €1280France: €1316You have to keep in mind though that the Bavarian (German) Alps are not as high up as the Austrian or Swiss ones, that the Italian and French skiing resorts are not as close to an airport as e.g. the Swiss, Austrian or German ones etc., that a 3-star acommodation in Switzerland or Germany certainly is more "luxurious" than a 3-star in Italy or France. But I think this serves as good basic indicator...

I'm actually surprised that France is more expensive than Switzerland, given how much more expensive everything is Switzerland usually is.
