single traveler

I am booked on a tour to Italy at the end of July. I received the list of travelers, and was disturbed to see that I was the only single person on the list. Can someone give me an idea of what to expect? Have I unknowingly signed up for the anniversary special?

I was a single on a RS tour, I would not worry about it at all. You will probably meet several friendly travel partners to hang with.

consider yourself lucky....that means that you will not have to share a room with anyone. I went on the small village Italy tour last year and everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to include me.

Last summer I went alone on a tour of Europe. I was a bit nervous because it was my very first time out of the country. I was too the only solo traveler on my tour but everyone was so nice to me and I felt very comfortable. I even spent a day with a couple on tour that was celebrating their 25th anniversary! You'll find that your tour mates will become like your family within the first few days. I ended up actually not minding roaming around alone and I wasn't so scared after all!

And if this helps at all, I am planning to travel Europe again next summer for a month -ALONE. I enjoyed my time and I never had to worry about what someone else wanted to do. I did whatever I wanted.

If you have any questions, please don't hesistate to ask.

Have fun!!

I too was fortunate enough to have my own room the whole trip this year for an RS tour. All the mmebers of the tour were great and as a previous poster mentioned - in 2 days you are one big happy family and I made lots of friends to hang out with during the "free time" portions to explore on our own. Shareing these in small groups or 2-3-4 folks were actually some of the best parts of the tour. Anyway -youre in for a treat! Enjoy!

Don't worry about it. Being a single gives you the ultimate freedom. I'm sure you'll find someone you get on with if you want company to do things or to go off by yourself if you want. I always travel alone and have found when on a group tour people were really lovely and included me in things but I had the opportunity to go off by myself when I wanted to. Enjoy.
