Any thoughts about what the best SIM card to use in Italy and the Scandinavian area might be. We will be there a month and can get a Verizon rate of $100 for the month. We wonder if a SIM card might be a lot less.

SIM cards are usually about $30 for a month and data up to 10GB. A lot less.
Your Verizon plan may allow you to call, but what about someone calling you back? I am sure it can be done, but if you have a local person (hotel, restaurant) why would they want to incur the cost of what amounts to an overseas call to them?
