sim card for iPad in Franch

Hi, I've been reading many travelers comments about sim cards and iPads here and elsewhere. Many say US citizens have great difficulty buying sim cards for iPads due to many stores not understanding how to sell to foreign travelers. Has anyone recently been to Paris and had success buying a prepaid sim card for iPad? I'll be there in May. Thanks!

Ruth, SIM cards may be available in France on a PAYG basis, but I've never tried to buy one. You might have a look at This Website (scroll down to the reply on June 11@ 3:22am). You could of course also use the iPad with WiFi at your Hotel or other locations without the SIM card. Happy travels!

I am travelling to UK and Europe in 4 weeks time - I own an Android (Galaxy SII) and understand that it has to be unlocked and set on international roaming before I can a prepaid sim. Also you may have to pay your plan amount a month ahead (if you are on a plan). Probably best to check with your retailer where you bought the IPad.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that you must have the Ipad2 3G AT&T version in order to install a sim card. The IPad2 3G Verizon version uses CDMA and does not have a sim card. Of course either version will work with wi-fi.

I just purchased a microSIM card from the French eBay site from this seller: http://stores.ebay.fr/2004ibiza The SIM I bought was pre-loaded with 35 euros through the Orange network. There is apparently an unlimited data plan available for 1 month for 9 euros. I still have a few more weeks before I can activate my SIM card and make sure it works, but there are instructions on how to do it here: http://prepaidwithdata.wikia.com/wiki/France The card took about a week to arrive, from Denmark I believe. The 35 euro card expires 2 months from when the seller ships it. Under 20 euros expires in 1 month I think. I plan on using this in a phone, but I imagine it would work in an ipad as well. I only have a wifi ipad, so that's not a concern for me.
