My wife and teen son are taking a trip to Bergen, Norway part business and part pleasure in August. We'll be staying with a friend/colleague in Bergen, but would like to take a 3 day excursion trip on the way back at a stopover city; perhaps Amsterdam/Leiden. Can also fly in/out via Frankfort or London. Any suggestions?

Do you plan to do the "Norway in a Nutshell" Fjord trip ? (Train, bus, boat). Starting at Bergen, have overnight accomodation at Aurland one night, and you could return to Bergen, or ride in a train to Oslo.

No, I'll be doing 3 days of work in Bergen. We may go to Ulvik to work for a day and take in some scenery. Then I'll be moving on to another stop (maybe Amsterdam/Leiden) to take a side trip.
