Sicily and Portugal in October…what order?

Hi, all. We’re planning a three week trip to Sicily and Portugal (Lisbon and surrounding area) in late September through part of October. Two weeks in Sicily, one in Portugal. Weather-wise, in which order should we do them, or does it not matter?

Thanks for your input,
Dave

Sicily is further south than Lisbon but not by that much. I would look at airfare to see which is cheaper to fly into Lisbon first or Sicily.

Outside of Malta, Sicily had the warmest winter weather in western Europe, and consistently so. Portugal by contrast is subject to the whim of the Atlantic Ocean. I would for sure do Portugal first. Not too likely the Atlantic will whack you with a wintery storm in October, but not at all impossible, and more likely as the month goes on.

Plus if you are coming from North America the jet lag will be a little easier in Portugal, both by the clock and in relation to your location on the planet.
