Short Winter Trip from Dublin

My sister and I are traveling to Dublin in late January to join my niece who is attending university there. We have all been to Ireland before so we want to go somewhere else for five or six days. We were thinking Eastern Europe (Krakow or Budapest) but thought it might be too cold for walking around. We are now considering Barcelona but are looking for suggestions for a short winter trip from Dublin that would not be outrageously expensive. Also any comments or suggestions on budget airlines in Europe.

Carol, I have not been to Krakow, but hear it is wonderful, but it will be cold, very cold, so I wouldn't go in winter.

Have you looked at cheapo airlines that fly out of Dublin and checked out some of their southern destinations? I would definately go south(actually I would go to Paris , but it is an illness of mine that the answer will always be another visit to Paris)

Pop on over to Frankfurt. I run into a lot of people from Ireland who have come over for a weekend visit. Lots to see here if you have ever read any of my other posts where I praise this adopted city of mine. Jan. might be quite cold of course, but probably not any colder than Dublin. If you want someplace warmer, check the Ryan Air flights to Rome perhaps.
