"short reconfirmation"

This may be a silly question but here it goes. I submitted a reservation request for a hotel room through the hotel's website. I received a reply back confirming that my reservation was accepted/booked (see below). But they asked me to send my "short reconfirmation" by email. What does that mean? Are they asking for simple reply back confirming that I received their confirmation?

Thanks,
Mary

This is to confirm that the requested accommodation has been booked.
Please, send us your short reconfirmation by e-mail. Thank you in
advance! We don’t need your credit card details, thank you any way.

That certainly appears to be the case. Probably not a bad idea to do same as your trip gets closer, as well.

I guess they're checking that you're a real person and/or that you did not book multiple hotels on speculation and do intend to stay with them.

Your initial email is seen as a 'request for accommodation'.
The response is a 'confirmation of availability'.
They are asking you now for a 'reconfirmation of booking'.

I have received these, too, and just send back a short confirmation. I also re-confirm again about a week before scheduled arrival, just for my peace of mind!
