I have a Morton's neuroma in my left foot and when irritated it can allow attention for nothing else. The brogans I have been advised to wear only beg to be hidden. can anyone suggest shoes I can wear with say a skirt? thanks, Fran
I use to sell shoes during my college years, where I met all sorts of feet. I can certainly sympathize w/your problem. You need to find a certified pedorthist in your area who can direct you to the appropiate shoes for your feet. Hopefully that includes stylish ones. Good luck!
hi frances,
... copy and paste this into your Internet address box ...
... when you have their home page on screen, click on "contact us", find their phone number and then talk with the experts at San Antonio Shoes...
... you may know they have some very comfortable and, at the same time, good-looking footwear.
have a great trip... P.
I'll second the suggestion about a podiatrist, although I suspect you saw one to at least get the original diagnosis.
What you want is for a podiatrist to write a "prescription" detailing what kind of shoe you need and also recommend a shop that has staff that can actually fit a shoe properly.
I went through this drill a few years ago after having tired, sore feet for years and buying lots of expensive shoes and not wearing them. Now, I know what kind of shoes to wear. I go to a store that can actually fit shoes, and I'm not afraid to spend money to get the right shoes.
SAS shoes are fine. I've worn them. Wearing Mephisto now. But brand is less important than getting the right kind of shoe and having it fitted by someone who knows what they're doing.
And, remember, always break in a new pair before travelling with them.
JC, It's pedorthist not podiatrist. I've have never heard of pedorthist until very recently. I met a pedorthist who works in a comfort shoe speciality store in my area. Do a google on it to get an exact description on what they do. It's very interesting. Jeannine
I too have a Morton's Neuroma. I didn't know for our trip and I had days were it was such an effort to walk, but I wasn't going to miss out on anything. I used to get my son to "massage"/pull my toes at the end of each day. I also bought some of those gel pads which did help a little, but my advice would be to find some sort of orthotic you can live with and take it. Whilst I loved my trip and walked heaps at times it was with great pain
I've also had Morton's Neuroma along with other foot problems. The cortisone inj killed the pain for quite a while. That along with wearing nothing but Birkinstocks finally got rid of it. However, I don't like Birks for travel. Last trip I bought a pair of SAS shoes (Simple/Simplify is on the box) because they looked & felt like an old, old pair of shoes I had in which I could walk for miles without pain - very cushy with decent support (I sometimes put an orthotic in them). They turned out to be really great so I bought a second pair when I got home. They're not high style, but they're OK & they can be worn with both pants & skirts. To me, they're perfect for European cobblestones.
I had cortisone injections for a Morton's neuroma which provided relief for at least six weeks afterwards. Eventually I had the neuroma surgically removed.
