Shipping to the US from Spain, or from the Spanish territories in Morocco?

I am new to this site, and not very inclined to use the net, so I am probably making this a lot harder than it is but, has anyone shipped packages to the US from the Spanish Territories ? That is, Melilla, or Ceuta.
I know that packages from the EU are a LOT cheeper to send to the States than packages from NON EU countries. So, do I have to go the Iberian peninsula or do the Spanish territories in Morocco have post offices? And, are they considered the same rates...... as from Spain, an EU country? Please.

Ceuta and Melilla are not Spanish territories, they're autonomous cities of Spain. As such, they are part of Spain and thus part of the EU. They have post offices just as other cities do. Domestic mail to and from these cities to the mainland is the same cost as all other domestic Spanish mail. I can't remember mailing anything home from the EU since it was formed. I have mailed a couple of packages to the US from Morocco and don't recall it being that expensive. End of knowledge.

Like Ed wrote: Melilla and Ceuta are an integral part of Spain. So they have normal Correos (Spanish post service) offices there. International mail from Melilla and Ceuta (and the Canary Islands) has different price tables than from the peninsular and the Balearic Islands, but as I recall it, it is actually a few percent cheaper because the VAT is lower than on the peninsular.

Not sure where you got the idea ..... from the EU are a LOT cheeper to send to the States..... That is not my experience. All shipping is expensive. Some suggest that the local postal systems are not the most reliable for packages. No experience with Spain. Most reliable are the private shipping companies UPS, Fed Ex, etc. You can go to their web sites and get the rate for packages from Spain. Packages from the US tend to get hung up in customs because the forms are not prepared properly in the originating countries.

This spring I tried to ship a package to the US from Croatia, which is not an EU country. That package would have cost me $85.00 to shipto the US. I shipped it from Montenegreo, which is in the EU instead for $19.00.

It's not easy to keep up with the countries of the former Yugoslavia and their possible accession to the European Union. However, neither Croatia or Montenegro are currently part of the E.U. Croatia is expected to join in 2013, and the accession treaty was signed at the recent E.U. summit. Slovenia is the only country from the former Yugoslavia which is currently an E.U. member.

i shipped stuff from sevilla to seattle before. the post office is a short walk from the cathedral. i thought the rate was reasonable, we took the cheapest option and it still arrived earlier than our expectation. if you need to ship something, do it, don't worry so much about the cost, it'll make the rest of the trip easier if you need to move a lot.

This past spring Montenegro had post office rates that were 25% of what Croatia had. I was told it used the EU post office rates for sending packages from Montenegro. Indeed the rates were cheap, as I said $18 as oppossed to $85.00 for the same package from Croatia. I appreciate all of your help but.... I think the point is being lost.
I would like to ship to the US without going to Spain twice...... So when I am in Morocco and have the Spainish cities of Ceuta and Melilla in front of me....will it be significantly cheeper to send packages home from there? Somebody must have thought about this long before me.

John, I don't know anything about Spain, but what I do know is that every country, EU or not EU, Eurozone or not Eurozone, sets their own postage rates. It is true that there is generally a lower price to send mail within the EU, but to the US is a different kettle of fishies.
