Just kidding - I think......
LOL Pat! Our son and his wife find themselves in a similar situation. They’ve followed several other peoples’ advice to get an imaginary home co-worker to blame things on. Maybe you and your spouse need to get an imaginary travel agent to “help” you with the planning...
Maybe the virtual marriage counseling industry will blossom from this? All you need is a laptop/ ipad/ cell phone and FaceTime to do the virtual sessions
Internet dating will be the only kind.
Well, social distancing begins at home.
At least the wine frig is well-stocked, and with the CA Wine Industry battling this- and previous seasons' wildfires- we may have to contribute further to their support.
I’m with you Pat. The others can have that years supply of TP. My wine cooler is full!
@Alan: We have more bottles of wine than toilet paper rolls! By the time we got home last Thursday, people in the Bay Area have emptied the shelves. We should have tossed our clothes and packed our suitcases with TP— there was no shortage (yet) in Budapest when we left.
We definitely have more bottles of wine than rolls of toilet paper! But we went to dinner at some friends tonight, and killed 3 or 4 bottles. Maybe it's time to inventory and make an "essential trip" to restock.
There will likely be a corona baby boomlet in 9 months. Will there also be a divorce surge after this?
One upside of retirement -- we have already adjusted to 24/7 togetherness. And we haven't killed each other yet.
LOL! yes, it is giving us a taste of retirement. So far we are surviving :-)
Some humor, which we all desperately need.
The New York Yankees had in the 1940s and 1950s a very demanding and difficult general manager, George Weiss. He was released by the team in 1960. After a period of time of George at home, his wife famously quipped, "I married George for better or for worse--but not for lunch."
We have been a “cult of two” for years, but especially in retirement. We have many friends but I am the social director and always instigate the outings, and I have my circle of friends, volunteer activities, etc., that cause some separation. Happy together but he goes to his hobby room/office on another floor for most of the day and we have lunch, coffee, a daily walk (very remote area), dinner and the evening. Keeps us both sane. I am still willing to travel with him. 😍
I thought we were the only ones stocking wine. It's great to hear other people doing the same thing.
Richard, good one. Whenever I hear of someone talking about retiring to "spend more time with family," I wonder if they first consulted their wives. I love my wife but some time apart is healthy.
Here's one from Democrats during Eisenhower's reelection campaign in 1956: "Ben Hogan for president. If we're going to have a golfer, let's have a good one."
Love the Ben Hogan reference!
I'm starting a trade-in centre for partners not used to being together all day. ;)
