Does anyone know where to start when sending human ashes to Canada for interment with relative out there?
Barbara: I think you should start by asking the Post Office. I had a recent experience of having cremated remains of a family member shipped from the city where she died to the city where she will be buried, and Canada Post was the method used.
Barbara,
Not really a "travel" related question, but I'll try to offer some suggestions.
A few avenues you might try:
Contact Canada Border Services Agency at www.cbsa.gc.ca/menu-eng.html for information on applicable regulations. They will be able to advise on options regarding shipment by Post or Courier.
Ask the Funeral Home in the U.K. if they have any suggestions. They may have encountered this situation in the past.
As a "last resort", you might plan a trip to Canada and deliver these in person (you didn't specify whether you were related?).
Good luck!
