Seeking Reader's Advice

Hi,
I am an administrator of http://www.triphealthy.com, a blog about traveling abroad with chronic illnesses. I have been reading message boards on Rick Steves’ travelers’ helpline. I was very impressed with the readers' level of thoughtfulness and responsiveness to questions posed.

We are a fairly new blog. We always ask our readers to write comments, but they seem reluctant to do so. Some do send e-mails to our editors about their experiences, but most do not.

I wonder if you would look at our website, especially early entries, and tell us why we are having trouble getting interactive conversations.

Please respond on our Triphealthy website, or e-mail me, [email protected], or comment here.

Thanks,
Ron

I think that there is a difference between a blog and the helpline. The helpline is really driven by questions. I think if I were starting a helpline for you site I would definitely get some what we call in publishing "friends of the house" to post some questions and have other friends answer them. That might get things started. If you look at Rick's blog, the times when he gets the most replies is when he stirs the pot by talking about politics or some other hot button issue. Pam
