Schengen visa from India

Hi, I am planning to cover four countries in Europe; France, Switzerland, Italy and Greece . I am from India, and need to apply for Schengen visa. Is it mandatory to reach the embassy of the country of arrival, i.e, If I take flight from India to Athens, do I need to take an appointment in Greece embassy or is it ok to do the same in any other embassy that are declared 25 Schengen countries, like french embassy? Thanks Abha

Check their official web page. As I recall they prefer that you get your visa through the country that you are going to spend most time in. But be smart, check the official web page

Technically, any of the Schengen Countries could issue you a visa, but guidance is to apply to the country where you will be spending the most time. If there is no specific country that fits that requirement (spending equal time in each) then apply with the country of entry. If one embassy is easier to work with due to a consulate being nearby, you may consider altering your planned itinerary to spend more time there, making that the one you apply to.
