Schengen question

I want to make sure I have this figured out correctly.

I will be in Schengen countries for 29 days, starting on October 2. Then for 8 days starting February 11. Then for 62 days starting on March 9. That's a total of 99 days.

October 2 plus 180 days takes me to March 31. Within that 180 day period, I have 60 days. After that, the October days start falling off as I add April and May days, so I should be good.

Have I calculated this correctly?

“With a valid U.S. passport book, you can stay up to 90 days in the Schengen area for tourism or business during any 180-day period. You must wait an additional 90 days before applying to re-enter the Schengen area.Feb 22, 2024”

Thank you Adam. That's a very handy calculator! I will bookmark it for future use.

Margie, I already knew the rules, but that will surely come in handy for others who read this post. Thank you!

Lane, I posted what I did because you state 99 days in 180 day period, that’s 9 days over limit and then you are going to have to wait another 90 days after the end of the first 180 day period. Maybe I’m not understanding in my head what you’re doing without mapping it on a calender. Sorry, no help!

Thanks, Margie. What I was trying to say is that I have 99 days in Schengen, but it's more than 180 days. Was just trying to get confirmation that I haven't miscalculated. Adam's calculator tool helped me work it out, and I'm going to be fine.

You have correctly understood that the 180 days period is a sliding window. So yes, eventually days spend in the area start "falling off".
