Schegen rul: connecting Flight?

Hi All, I have an important question about details of the Schegen Rule. Once I have passed our 90 day maximum limit of stay within the EU countries under the Schegen agreement, may I land in the EU for a connecting flight, in order to travel to another part of the EU (eastern part) that is not under the agreement????? For Specifics, I will be in the EU for 90 days, then I will be in Britain for a month, after this time, I want to fly to Croatia; I will fly straight there if possible, but if I find a cheaper flight with one stop first, that happens to be within the schegen countries, am I allowed to land and connect to my final flight???? Thank you in advance!!!!

If you are just transitting through, its not a problem.

My understanding is that you may only do so if you do not have to go through passport control to get to the connecting flight (other words go via a transit area). Alternatively if you do have to go through passport control to get to your flight, you will need a Schengen visa - type C.

Yes, you can. But airport layouts differ and some airports have several non-Schengen areas only accessible via Schengen zones. If you have to pass through passport control to get to your connecting non-schengen flight, it is important that you mention that you are not allowed to enter Schengen. You will then be given an escort and directed to the area where yor plane depart from, bypassing immigration. In many airports, there is nothong to worry about since they ony have one non-Schengen zone. In this case you can normally stay non-Schengen and avoid passing immigraton.
