Sacramento Travel Meeting - Saturday July 21st @ 10:00 a.m.

It's that time again! Our July meeting is on Saturday 7/21 at 10:00 a.m. As usual the location is the Panera Bread located at 3571 North Freeway Blvd, Sacramento. This is the North Natomas location, off I-80 at the Truxel exit. My question is - who's coming?

It looks like you and me, and I probably can't be there.

Monte, don't even bother coming if you don't bring something from Magellans ;-) I hate it, but I can't make this meeting :-(

Ya gotta deal there. I hardly ever wear them anyhow.

Eileen, I know why you won't be there and where you will be. We will be talking about you. Just saying... I am going to bring my Barcelona book for Kitty. Are there any other books I should bring?

Thinking about joining you for the first time but promised to take my kids to the beach boardwalk in Santa Cruz that day...hopefully I can make the August meeting since Eileen speaks highly of the Sacto group. I wondered if any of you have been to Australia/NZ, as this is the next trip I am planning. Thanks and I'll keep watching for the August date, Kaye

Hi Kaye, We always meet the 3rd Saturday of the month. A reminder is posted 7-10 days prior to the meeting. I hope to meet you in August. Have fun in Santa Cruz!

But I...I... I'd like to go to Santa Cruz. (pouting) Oh, forgot I'll be out-of-town :-)

Only two peeps? Really? Monte has to give a demonstration at his home clubhouse, so he can't make it to Sacto... I'm currently engaged in negotiations...;-)

I am planning on being there, but I will not guarantee my punctuality.....jet lag etc is upon me....

David, Well, we talk about travel of course! European travel mostly, although we also discuss other trips we may be taking. The 'regulars' are a pretty well traveled group, but no one knows everything about every destination. We help each other out with information about areas of interest. Larry is very knowledgable about trains, amongst other things. We also have had people just come for a month or two to get help with a trip they are planning. We had one couple who were traveling the country in their motor home just happen to be in town at the right time and they came to a meeting. If someone is planning a trip and we know their destinations, between us we probably have books that cover just about anywhere in Europe. We meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month, I hope you can join us. We have a lot of fun!

Being a travel group, we discuss travel. Everybody in the group has traveled multiple times to Europe. Recently, we have been discussing upcoming trips. The trips are not always about Europe. For example, our next trip is a leaf cruise in Canada and New England in October. We enjoy having new visitors come by for us to help them with their travel questions. We enjoy this. They come and go and that's fine. We have our books, computers and our website resources. Come on by.

That would be great if you can make it David. Note the address above. We don't meet downtown, we meet in North Natomas. I will post a reminder for the August meeting 7-10 days prior to it.

Also, David (if you're still reading this thread!), we'll occasionally bring a new travel gadget/piece of luggage/comfy travel shoes to the meeting for an informal show-and-tell. A while ago someone posted on the Sacto meeting thread that she was interested in buying a different style of money belt, so some of us brought all of the various styles that we've tried over the years so that she could try them all out and see which style was most comfy before she wasted money on a new one. Or, maybe you want to compare your RS '2011 Rome' guidebook to the '2012 Rome' or the '2012 Italy' book; if you post that on the meeting thread and someone has the book you're looking for, they'll answer your post in the thread and bring that book. I think some people have also bought/sold Euro...So if you have a request or question, just post it on the thread and someone will probably post an answer for you!

From what it sounds like, Eileen likes to do in-depth research on alcoholic beverages, and requests that newbies bring Limoncello as an entrance fee. The Rick Steves Helplline cannot sanction such blatant extortion.

Thank you Karen! Her demands must not be met. All bribes go to ME!!

Nuh-uh; Belgian beers (triples, if you've got 'em) are always welcome ;-) David, we'd like to hear about your August trip at the Sept meeting, if you're up for it! We're generally well-behaved...or at least not dangerous. (whispering: all monies/bribes go to ME...) FYI - there are no monthly dues, etc, nor do you have to 'join' our group. Just show up! Or not :-( We like trip pictures, too!

@David, I'm glad you will give your trip report in October, as I won't be in town for the September meeting. I prefer euros. Thanks for asking!

Straffe Hendrik triple; try Beverages and More ;-) BTW, will I be The Only One at the Sept meeting?!?
