Sacramento Travel Meeting - Saturday August 18th

As usual, we are meeting on the 3rd Saturday of the month. It's August, so that makes it on the 18th! We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Panera Bread located at 3571 N. Freeway Blvd. in Sacramento. It is located off I-80 at the Truxel exit. The Atlanta group has Ron-in-Rome as a special guest for their meeting. I have suggested that maybe we can set up Skype to talk to them. Can you arrange that Larry? So my question is - Who will be coming to the meeting? For the record, I think I can make it!

David...glad you can make it. Are there any books or maps any of us can bring to help you with trip planning?

Yeah David. Come on by. As Andrea has asked, what countries will you be visiting?

Andrea, I've posted on the Atlanta thread. Perhaps we can set up a Skype or Apple Facetime session. I've requested 11:00 our time and 2:00pm their time.

David, I brought mine a few months ago...I don't think I sold any ;-) Maybe you'll have better luck... But, that's definitely part of what goes on at our get-togethers. Do you like your bag? Would you like another? I can make you a good price ;-)

Eileen, maybe if you let me borrow yours next month I can 'field test' it. Just a thought...

David, we'll talk...;-) Hopefully, it will work for you.

To the regular suspects, and you know who you are - I will be in L.A. in a couple of weeks and am planning to go the Magellan's travel store. If there is anything you want and want to save on the shipping, let me know. @ Eileen, I know how much you like to give me a shopping list when I travel. ;-)

OhMyGosh! OhMyGosh! OhMyGosh! Are you going to both locations? They're awfully close together ;-) I'll have to work on this... Surely, there's something I wanted but didn't want to pay S&H on...something teeny-tiny and lightweight, of course... Be sure to check with Monte/Genesee ;-)

We don't have an agenda. We just talk about where we are planning on going, where we want to go and where we've been. We have shown photos too. If you're planning a trip and are looking for some advice, let us know your plans. We can bring books and maps. We also bring laptops and iPads to utilize the free wifi to look things up. @ Eileen - I am going to the Santa Monica location. Their only other location is in Santa Barbara. What other place are you talking about?

The last Magellan's catalog I got (this week) showed both locations on one map, only a few streets apart, and the scale made them look about 5 minutes apart. I thought that was new and weird, but these stores often have an outlet with different merchandise, so I didn't dwell on it. Still, it made an impression on me. Sorry; not going out in the dark to rummage through the recycle container :-) Fine. Go to the Santa Monica location. See if I - and the Santa Barbara location - care. (sniff) Kaye - I've sent you a PM.

I didn't see that there are 2 locations in Santa Monica, but when I am at the store I will definitely ask if they have an outlet store nearby. I got on their website last night and saw that some things are only available on the web.

Magellans headquarters is in Santa Barbara. They have one retail store there ( new location since 2011) and once a year they have an outlet sale at a warehouse location. When I get a notice about it next spring ( or whenever) I'll let the Sacramento group know the date and location. This year I think the sale location was Carpenteria--I was out of town...

The Magellans retail store in Santa Monica is having an anniversary sale this Friday-Sunday. Too bad I will be missing it by 2 weeks. :-( I don't know that I would go all the way to Santa Barbara for an outlet sale, but if I just happened to be there at the right time....you just never know!

Kat, should I call you Saturday morning to remind you?? :-)

Shocking - I can't think of anything I 'need' from Magellan's!!! Of course, I own most everything in their catalog... If my husband and I arrive alone, please send us back home - we've forgotten Kaye :-( We could run by and scoop up Kat, if necessary...;-)

Thanks, Darcy, it was great! (Whoa, are we speaking outloud? Everybody didn't hear us, I hope...'cause we drank it all...) I had a fantastic time, as usual. Thanks Ryan, David, and Kaye for coming. I hope we haven't scared you off ;-)

Hi Sacramento!
I'm sorry that we didn't connect today! I missed Larry's message about the 2:00 meeting time. Ron was really fun to meet and is now a resident of Atlanta (at least for awhile) so we're hoping he'll be a regular. One day Sacramento and Atlanta will see each other!

Bummer :-( So, we get another shot? I think there'll only be a couple of us for the Sept meeting, but it'll be the Important Couple of Us. Heh-heh.

So sorry to miss the meeting! Now we have to wait another whole month! Instead we are up on the north coast celebrating our anniversary in the cool breeze and salt air. See you in September.
