Sacramento Travel Meeting - Saturday 5/17 @ 10:00 a.m.

It's that time again to meet with fellow travelers to talk about --- travel!!

As always, we meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Location-
Panera Bread 3571 North Freeway Blvd. Sacramento. This is off I-80, using the Truxel Rd. exit.

Everyone who wants to discuss their upcoming trips, reminisce about past trips, or just hang out and talk about travel is welcome.

Who's planning to be there?

It's on our calendar -- assuming we can find the Panera better than we did the Hertz location at Gare de l'Est in Paris!
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

HA! HA! Not even close to getting to be there 8^(

Long story short, my father-in-law didn't get discharged from the hospital; in fact, 2 (3?) weeks later he's in ICU recovering from his gallbladder surgery. It's like those 'try all 100 of our beers, get your card punched each time, and get a free mug!' deals - he's making the rounds of each.and.every.hospital.department so he can collect some more hospital socks ;-) His hysterectomy is scheduled for next Monday. He's been hospitalized for 8 weeks today; you'd think he would be farther along in his collection...Seriously, he is alive and that's why we're here. Unfortunately, I've been collecting quite the Kit-Kat and donut bum :-(

There is a Panera not too far from the hospital; I could go there and we could FaceTime while I drink my Panera coffee...and with the 2-hour time difference, I might even make it in time for your 10:00am start time :-/ (Ha-ha, Andrea - beat ya to it LOL!) We might possibly be out of the hospital by then, but definitely NOT in CA.

Remember - leave by 2:00pm ;-)

(Susan, we'll have to email or FaceTime...!)

Wow Eileen, I'm so sorry to hear that. I thought he was doing better. Is Sid still there with you? We can definitely FaceTime during the meeting.

He's here - his leave-of-absence ends pretty soon, but we're planning on staying as long as we can to see his father as far as possible into his recovery. I see a few unpaid days off work in our future...If he's still in ICU through Sunday, he'll have to cancel his hysterectomy ;-)

FaceTime also works in the hospital...Can someone scoot over to our house so we can FaceTime our kitties?!? Our wonderful petsitter doesn't have an Apple product...Heck, they've probably decided to go and live with her anyway ^..^

It is amazing what medical science in Texas can do - what with male hysterectomies and all. ;-)

Good luck with it all, and I hope the sock collection ends soon.

Eileen….I thought you were home by now! That is terrible news, but I'm glad he is doing better.

We will be there, or at least me. Monte may have to work, not sure yet. This is my last chance to get all the info I need before we leave!!

I'm looking forward to meeting you Laura B. The Panera is in the shopping center that has Target. It's located in a free standing building near the entrance. Let me know if you need further directions.

Kat has invited me to join you all and I finally have a free weekend.
I feel as if I know many of you already, so I am definitely looking forward to this Saturday.
Can't wait!

I'm looking forward to meeting you Sharyn.

With so many people from the Bay Area coming to our meetings, maybe we should be the Nor Cal travel group!

Maybe you all from Sac could come down here for a meeting! We have a Panera! I know, nice try... ; )

Susan R.: Go to Sausalito for a meeting? Twist my arm! Their gentrified Panera serves Blue Bottle coffee....! Of course, we won't be able to afford a trip to Europe after the coffee, but hey.......!

If anyone has info on Barcelona & Northern Spain; along with Western France, please bring it!

I can't make it tomorrow. I'm helping to set up a bridal shower for my youngest niece. As for Sausalito, I would be open for that (I lived in Larkspur/Corte Madera for 25 years).

Susan,
Maybe we need our "own" North Bay meeting. Sac is 4+ hours round trip from Santa Rosa on a good traffic day. Or maybe you and I meet up some weekend. Any other Sonoma or Marin travelers out there?????

Karen, a really good idea and I'm definitely up for it but I have to say... the Sac group is worth the 4+ hrs drive! Such nice people. But hey, I'd be happy to go to two different group meetings!

Yes Kat... Blue Bottle Coffee... Miette Pastries... Blue Barn Organic salads... and a hot tub with peacock feathers... ; ) I've got you, Larry, Karen and me signed up so far!

Susan, you are so sweet.

I would be interested in a Sausalito meeting, as long as it's scheduled on a different day than the Sacramento meeting. We have people who come to our meetings who aren't very active on the Helpline. They do know when and where we meet and just show up.

Susan: Now look what you've gotten yourself into! ...(and keep me on the list!)

Laura B and Sharyn, I'm sorry I won't be able to meet you :-( Hopefully they won't scare you off LOL and you'll attend more meetings!

Sausalito Susan, gosh dang it, that was soooo sweet! You know we love to see you when we can...and we definitely appreciate the effort it takes for you to come all the way to be with us.

I'm definitely planning on being there for the June meeting...8^/

Kat... lol!

Eileen, you'd better be back for the June meeting... or we'll have to come and get you.

You're not still at Panera, are you ;-)

I hope everyone had a good time, as usual!

Yes, we are still here. Well, not everyone. I'm here with the Susan's, David and Kevin. Sorry you had to miss the meeting. Next month...

Wow, a bunch of Golden State travel junkies Occupy Panera! But five hours? I want to see the minutes.

Sorry Dave, taking minutes would indicate there is some sort of organization to our meetings. I can assure you there is not! It's not the first time some people have stayed until 4:00 or later!!

Thanks to everyone who was there today for letting us join in. Ed and I both are looking forward to other 3rd Saturday meetings. Sausalito sounds good too!

Laura,
It was nice to meet you both. I know it's a long drive for you, but I hope you can make it to more meetings.

So far the furthest anyone has come to attend our meeting was Joel in Arizona. We had a couple who live in their RV and travel around the country stop by one time. Another time a couple from Santa Barbara came on their way home from Lake Tahoe. Next month Darcy from Idaho will be with us. Darcy is part of the group that meets in Idaho, as is Pam. We will have a meeting together in Paris in September. I can't wait for that one!!

I came from Frankfurt once. Do I get a prize for coming from the farthest away?
Hope I can join the festivities again sometime this year.

Whoops...sorry Jo. You absolutely win the prize!! Others have come from different states. You came from another continent!

Hopefully I will see you in Frankfurt in October!!

We'll be there 13th to 21st! Or would we have to stay longer than that ;-)

Dave - You'll be where? Frankfurt? Sacramento?

Why, Paris, of course!

I will be in Paris for a few hours on 9/26. We are arriving on the Eurostar from London and heading for Normandy. We return to Paris on 10/10 for 5 nights. It looks like we'll miss each other. I'm not sure of Darcy and Pam's dates.

I'll be in Paris the 20-28 September! Thank goodness because the 3 days in May turned out to be me keeping an eye on Doug while he was dealing with food poisoning--ugh! (poor guy) At least I was able to see Jeanne d'Arc's home before he became so violently ill.
