Sacramento Travel Meeting - Saturday 11/16 @ 10:00 a.m.

It's that time again to meet with fellow travelers to talk about --- travel!! As always, we meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m.

Location- Panera Bread 3571 North Freeway Blvd. Sacramento This is off I-80, using the Truxel Rd. exit.

Everyone who wants to discuss their upcoming trips, reminisce about past trips, or just hang out and talk about travel is welcome.

So my question is...who plans to be there?

Do we get door prizes if we come.....like Robert in Kansas City does?
Will let you know after I hear your response, Andrea.

@ kat - I'm sure everyone would appreciate it if you want to bring door prizes. Whatever you choose would be fine.

@ Jo - that is fantastic! I'm looking forward to meeting you and your dad. Kat will be bringing a little something for everyone it seems. :-)

Happy Birthday, Eileen! Your present is in the mail. I hope Panera Bread doesn't drink it before you get there! (hahaha!)

Thanks, Darcy! I'd better get there v-e-r-y early and claim my package ;-)

(and no snide remarks, Andrea, about my ability to get there early...)

It'll go great with my free birthday pastry 8-P

Okay, I won't make snide remarks within your earshot. I should have plenty of time before you get there! :-P

Oooohhhhh...birthday pastry. I wonder if I get one too!

Jo, we meet a the large table in the center of the room. I try to get there early to save it. Sometimes Larry beats me to it.

Couldn't get the door prize through the door. Tried, but the doorknob fell off.

@Andrea: Watch out for Eileen. She is planning on bungee bagging you for nondelivery...

Happy Birthday to Andrea, Jim & Eileen.

See you on Sat.

It was wonderful meeting you all. Wish I would have had time to chat with everyone, but I did my best. You guys have a great group and I look forward to seing some of you when you travel through Frankfurt.

Jo, thanks for making the effort to come to the meeting. It was nice meeting you and I hope we can connect in Frankfurt next year. You win the (non-existent) prize for coming the furthest to attend one of our meetings. And thank you Susan from Sausalito for not only coming all the way to a meeting, but for doing it two months in a row! We had 17 people this month, and the last of us left Panera at about 4:00. I don't expect as many people next month because of the holidays, but whether we are a large or small group we always have fun!

Jo, great meeting you & your Dad........he's got some wonderful travel stories to share! I inadvertantly left your brochure on the walking tour of Frankfort you do. (Frankfort on Foot), so will PM you for the details. I suspect that Eileen actually lifted it, as she is wont to do. (Check out the Nutella heist she did in Berlin.)

Great seeing all the new faces yesterday! Due to the marathon meetings we've been having, I just received the rent bill from Panera. Perhaps we can tap into Eileen's franchise fees that she has been so assiduously collecting.......

Uh kat, I found your brochure and brought it home with me. Eileen suggested I hold it for ransom. That is just so not me. What? Is that laughter I hear?

@Rick: How about selecting an annual prize.....like one of your tours.... for one of your travel meeting groups....starting with the Sacramento group, of course. I think I'll pick Village Italy...with arrangements to put Eileen in the luggage compartment when she gets out of hand.

It was great to meet everybody and to put a face on all the wonderful contributors in the Sacramento area. And Jo who traveled quite a distance. Thank you to everybody and all their advice about our upcoming return (in a year) to Italy.

I enjoyed getting to better know everyone in this lively group and appreciate the valuable advice you've given me about my upcoming Italy tour next spring. I've also learned a lot from this website as well, particularly the travelers helpline...thank you!

Whoa! We're gonna have to start renting the entire Panera Bread dining room if any more people come! Because there were so many people to talk to, I never got to see Jo's photos of her flight; maybe she can get my email and send me a few ;-)

Donna said - in front of two other witnesses - that she was taking me to Italy with her next spring; yes!!! Thanks, Donna! It was great getting to meet Donna and Susan and Claire and Jo and her dad, and getting to talk with all of the 'oldtimers' - or at least trying to :-(

Thanks, Kat and David and Andrea, for my birthday goodies, and for all of the good wishes ;-) I've already eaten them or watched them, LOL! And thanks again, Donna, for my Italy trip!

We need a personal benefactor...so that we can all take a Rick Steve's Tour together. Any takers? (and I'm referring to the benefactor, not the trip 'takers')? Rick, I've bought a whole lot of your stuff (like practically everything you've ever sold), and so have many of the other Sacramento peeps. Just sayin'. You can include anybody else you wish; it doesn't have to be Sacramento peeps only :-) Sales at Panera have certainly increased; perhaps we can start there. Rick Steve's + Panera ;-)

Poor Eileen....she ate the video and put the cake in the DVD player.

No more Freeport Bakery runs for alleged birthdays. I understand that Jim, Andrea and Eileen are now claiming their birthdays are in December.
Bring your passports, I'm checkin' your ID.

Thank you for the cake kat. Jim thanks you too. We thoroughly enjoyed the deliciousness that Freeport Bakery puts out. Good thing I didn't claim my free birthday pastry from Panera. I will save that for next month!

Huh? Ummm, I think I was a bit fatigued after that long meeting, and that smooth-talkin' Texan Eileen took advantage of my weakened state. Witnesses too? I can see that I'll need to be on my toes at future meetings...

p.s. - Eileen, you're so entertaining that you'd probably distract me from the tour guide!

I didn't hear any such thing Donna. I think she's making it up.

P.S. - Donna, You can pay me next month, or I may all of a sudden remember what Eileen is 'claiming' you said. ;-)
