Sacramento Travel Group Meeting - March 16th @ 10:00

The March meeting of the Sacramento Area Helpline Travel Enthusiasts will be held on Saturday, 3/16 @ 10:00 a.m. Location- Panera Bread 3571 North Freeway Blvd.
Sacramento Take I-80 and use the Truxel exit. it will be fun to talk about upcoming trips. This meeting is open to everyone who loves to travel, talk about travel or who wants to learn more about traveling. We are usually at the large table in the middle of the room. Look for the blue and yellow books. So my question is.... Who plans to be there?

Hey, I can bring 4 cats, too! I'll dust off the sewing machine and make some little rucksacks and moneybelts...Voting on the location needs to end early-ish, though; I'll need some time to get all of us across the country if SC wins. I like 'beverages', too. I'll be there - wherever 'there' is!

Susan, I'll be there. I've already prepared a package of information for you. It looks better to take the train from Southampton to Waterloo that it does to Victoria Station. It's a one-bus straight shot directly north from Waterloo to Holborn. I have the printouts to show you. I have other stuff as well from our trip in 2009. Also, I have a bottle of Limoncello in my trunk. I don't think that we can open it in Panera's and it won't have been directly from the freezer.

London is our topic for this month, right? At least after a few drinks it will be. I'll bring the limoncello! Remember that David and come prepared!

Elaine, I wanted to take our meeting East but was vetoed. Why don't you come out here and Eileen will make sure the limoncello is nice and chilled. We have to be somewhere at 2:00, so no five hour meeting for us this month. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. No Europe for us this year, so I will be living vicariously through you that are traveling. Kat, I'm in Portland right now and I saw your mountain. Beautiful...

Larry, is that the same limoncello you had in your trunk 2 months ago? Someone needs to drink that stuff! Say the word and I can bring an ice chest. If we put that bottle on ice right away it shouldn't take too long for it to chill. The forecast is for 79 degrees on Saturday. A cold drink would really hit the spot!

I am in the extreme early stages of planning for Italy in 2014, so any maps, books, etc... that you might bring to show and tell me about your experiences would be great. I have a rough conceptual route planned, as to direction of travel on the route (cw vs. ccw) it will not matter, but value for time advice I do need. Katwhen KVIE sent the schedule, Rick was not on it, and the special they had was recorded elsewhere, not in Sacramento. Maybe next time, I keep trying. Susan and Monte, I can weigh in on some things we did a few years ago on our last trip to London and how I got tickets in advance.

Sure, that would be great Kevin. I think most of you have been to London so I'm excited to get more help.

Ummm...Susan, we pretty much covered London last month; this month it's Italy. Sorry ;-) Ya snooze, ya lose...heh-heh. OK, we can probably go through all of it again...(wink) My car has decided to go on strike - the battery is d.e.a.d. again (grrrrrr), so I'll either take The Truck or walk to Panera; right now the choice is 50-50. I really hate driving that truck. It's a stupid truck. A yucky, bouncy truck. Maybe I'll air up my bike tires...;-) Hey, limoncello...I've got lots of little containers (for quick cooling) and little food coolers - I'll bring some ice ;-) No problem. I'll see y'all tomorrow...one way or another... (Hey, David - do those boat magazines have lots of pretty pictures for me to look at?)

And that Monte, is why you will always be our favorite DD! ;-) Eileen, if you don't want to drive The Truck, get Sid to bring you. Tell him Monte will be the DD to get him home or something. I would have Jim pick you up this morning after he gets off work, but we have a VERY full day ahead of us and he's barely going to make it home in time for us to get to the meeting as it is. Kevin, I have a 2005 Italy I will bring you to keep. At least it will help you with seeing what sites you might want to see. Don't pay too close attention to the prices to avoid getting depressed.
