Sacramento Area Helpline Meeting Sat, Oct 20

As we do each month, we will be meeting the third Saturday to talk travel. Location - Panera Bread
3571 N. Freeway Blvd., Sacramento This is in North Natomas, off I-80 at the Truxel exit. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to ask questions, give advice, or just talk about where you have been and where you want to go. So my question is - Who will be there? *And yes, Andrea, I just copied-and-pasted your message ;-)

Monte and Susan "hope" to be there. Life will tell us, but it is a plan for now. We miss fighting over those guidebooks and maps:)

FYI for those in the Sacto area - the new season of "Rick Steves' Europe" will be on KVIE tonight at 7:30! It's the first of a three-parter on Rome. WOO-HOO!!! I know - gotta get a life. Susan and Monte - I hope things work out so that you can attend next Sat! (Ummm, David, I've already figured out that first class/coach thing LOL 8^D Sounds like perhaps you had an 'adventure'...)

Eileen - First you steal my words instead of coming up with your own. I was a little confused why you posted the meeting info 2 weeks in advance. Now it appears that you think that the meeting is this coming Saturday? Not so... You need to get a life AND a calendar! :-) Susan & Monte - I know you have a lot on your plate right now, but I hope you can make it to the meeting. A little distraction can be a good thing. I'm looking forward to trip reports from David, Kitty and Larry. Although I can't travel right now I can live vicariously through others!

Ummm, Andrea, next Sat is the 20th, as opposed to this Sat the 13th. And the 20th is, well, the 20th :-) The THIRD Sat. Is it time for me to start wearing my &@€=¥!# eyeglasses LOL ?!? (stomps foot) I don't wanna!!! >>blinking<< Sheesh... ;-D

Hey, Andrea, don't you want my trip report on Texas? I've got boarding passes, photos and original video, court documents, an empty liquor bottle from the airplane (don't know how THAT got in my carry-on), even some new sweatpants...'cuz ya know you can't buy those in California... (grinning sheepishly)

If I have to hear YOUR Texas trip report you have to hear MY Texas trip report. Somehow I don't think either one would compare to Rome, London, Spain, or a New England cruise. No matter how much you like Texas! I will concede that this Saturday is the 13th and next Saturday is the 20th! You must have been bored Saturday to post the meeting so early!! ;-)

Yeah, but how many have court documents? Exciting Times!!! Of course, they may arrive in the mail in about 6 months for the others... ;-) We used to always post the meetings thread two or so weeks ahead of time - don't want to hear 'I can't make it; I didn't have enough advance warning'! Now EVERYBODY has to come. No excuses.

Bummer, David! And...RS Europe won't be on for two more weeks - there's a presidential debate next Tuesday. The shows used to be on twice a week (an 'encore presentation'), but no more. If you've seen his previous shows on Ancient Rome, there wasn't any new info that I can remember seeing in tonight's new episode; I was hoping for some fresh scenery...but I'm not sure how many different ways you can videotape the Forum... This year's episodes will be (re-)covering and updating/refreshing the classics - Rome, Paris, London, so there won't be any new and off-the-beaten-path locations. He's also redone his three-part Travel Skills episode and there's a new Tour Experience DVD.

I'll be there with a trip report on our 3-week trip to Montreal, Quebec City with a 10-day cruise on Holland America's Eurodam from Quebec City to NYC. This was my first cruise ever. Quite an experience.

So sorry, Stacey (and any others...)! Next time, I'll copy off of a smarter kid's paper ;-) We meet at 10:00 AM. (thread edited with meeting time!)
(ummm, won't let me edit, so...) I hope you can make our meeting, Stacey!

@Eileen - My original post included the time in the title, so it was not repeated in the body of the post. Maybe next time you will leave the entire post up to the professionals. Just saying... ;-) Sorry you can't make it this month Stacey, but we meet every month so maybe another time. Because Eileen posted this without mentioning the time, I'm sure she will have a little gift for each attendee.

If I can get out of being the announcer I will try to make it.

I hope you can make it, Stacey. We'll be at the large tables (pushed together) in the center of the restaurant. EDIT: Stacey, I just read your thread...I hope to see you on Sat ;-)

I'm trying to figure out how to attend the Denver, Sacramento and Moscow meetings all at the same time. Has anyone figured out how to do this?

It looks like we will have to wait until next month to hear about Kat's trip to Spain. Larry, I'm anxious to hear about Montreal and Quebec City, as I'm very interested in going there. See you Saturday!!

Hey - I can't make it Saturday...unless I stop procrastinating and just do my pedicure already. I'd just be tooooo embarrassed to show up otherwise. I don't recall EVER seeing a bump like that from Lee or Frank ;-) I pray I never will.

Yeah, the As's have 'Loser' stamped on their foreheads...After beating MY Texas Rangers, they could at least have won a game... The Detroit Tigers DID sweep the Yankees - there IS a God.

How was the meeting? Sorry I missed it. My kids had a swim meet I couldn't miss.

Stacey, we missed you! We understand that we all have conflicts from time to time, though. We finally broke up after four hours :-) I hope the swim meet went swimmingly. Sorry. Oops - I posted at the same time as David!

@Susan - You're welcome! I hope when you read the book you can dream of the next trip. Hopefully we can manage that barge cruise in Burgundy next year. And as Marie Antoinette so famously said (or did she?)...let them eat cake! @Stacey, I hope you can join us next month. See you all next month!!

Yeah, Monte?!? The best team aka Texas Rangers isn't in the World Series, and in fact I've never even heard of the two teams (Cards and Giants) that played tonight (snort), but it's still baseball - beer, hot dogs, trash-talking, wearin' your colors...it's all good ;-)
