Hello, flight on ryan air from Stanstead airport to Salzburg in March. 3 hours going, 1 hour return, I cant seem to find out where other stops are? Why 3 hours thank you

Maybe it is a 2-hr flight each way. There is a one hour time difference (time zone) between England and the Continent.

Just a thought - and you may already know this - be sure you check the luggage weight allowance on Ryan Air - we got stuck with a large penalty because their allowance was way less than other airlines and that was 3 years ago - hate to think what it might be now! Nasty surprise!

As stated previously, the time difference is the reason why. Just like it takes approximately 12 hours to get to Europe, but only four to get back.

"...but only four to get back." Only if you have one heck of a tailwind. :)

Tom, I think you missed my little joke. Or maybe you didn't and I'm missing your joke! The latter is probably more likely, but just to be clear: It's an approximately six-hour flight in the air, but with the time difference, it looks different going than coming. So for example, you would leave IAD at 5:25pm and arrive CDG at 6:45 am next day, but on the way back you would leave CDG at 11:45am and arrive IAD at 2:22pm the same day.

elaine, I checked the schedules and it appears that the flight time is about 1H:55M each way. The RyanAir website indicated "No Flights" on March 3rd, however I used arbitrary dates of out Mar. 4th and back on Mar. 5th. This is the way I read it: On the trip to Salzburg.... > Departure STN 06:35 (UK time) = 07:35 (Euro time) > Arrival SZG 09:30 (Euro time) = 08:30 (UK time) > Flight time 1H:55M And on the return..... > Departure SZG 10:05 (Euro time) = 09:05 (UK time) > Arrival 10:55 (UK time) = 11:55 (Euro time)
> Flight time 1H:50M Hopefully my calculations are correct? Cheers!

thank you al lI have found on Ryan Air for 3/25/2011 635 flight arrive 935 SaLzburg (I assume 630 am!) and returning to London 3/27/2011 flight about 55 min. 3 hrs going vs 55 min.returning?? (Stanstead London to Salzburg) Secondly how early do we have to get to Stanstead airport (London) for a 630 am flight?? if we take that one, 2nd flight is 11 50( I think a.m.) If I did Ryan Air correctly, Standstead only airport can fly out of to get to Salzburg??
Is it a large airport, ok to get around?

Elaine, please re-read Ken's explanation for the time difference (above). The flight is two hours, roughly. You lose an hour flyig to Austria and get it back going to UK, just like you would if you flew from Chicago to NY and back. To answer your other questions, Stansted (no "a") airport is very small and easy to get around. Germanwings and airberlin both also fly to Salzburg from there. You have more choice if you want to leave from Gatwick - flythomascook, British Airways and airberlin fly from there to Salzburg.

Thank you! I will look up the other airport and carriers, but dont think they can beat the fares from Ryan

elaine, As you're going to flying with RyanAir, BE SURE to pack light or you'll be paying substantial overweight baggage charges. Also note that European airlines allow ONE carry-on item only. That doesn't mean one item plus a "personal item" like a Purse, it literally means ONE ONLY of the approved size and weight. Cheers!
