RS Travel Alarm

Has anyone used the travel alarm clock sold in the RS online store?

I've traveled with an Oregon Scientific alarm for the last 20 years or so, and what I love about it is that it's small and slim and has large numbers. However, over the last couple of years it's been acting up a bit (fresh batteries don't make any difference) and makes me nervous.

I've got a credit in the RS store, but am hoping to get some feedback on the clock before I decide to buy it.

ETA: I don't travel with a phone or iPod, so don't have that option for an alarm.

I use and love the RS travel alarm clock. Have owned it for a few years. Had owned a few other brands but they would stop functioning.

If you travel with a smart phone, there are some good alarm apps. I use "Rise," which works fine for me.

I purchased the RS alarm with my $100.00 coupon and it appears clear and simple. I'll use the alarm clock and my iPod for backup on my RS tour as I'm not a morning person...but also don't like to be late for anything. :)

Teresa,

I always travel with my iPhone so I just use that as an alarm clock. It works well and eliminates one item to pack. I believe the iPod Touch also has an alarm clock function.

I carry a small travel alarm clock to Europe that fits in my shirt pocket if called for, such as sleeping on the night train.

Teresa, I use the alarm feature on my iPad, large numbers and no extra device.

I always take my phone away with me even though I don't intend to use it for expensive calls. You never know if you may need it in an emergency. Taking your phone would be a more practical solution than buying dead technology ie alarm clocks!

I used to travel with the RS-store alarm clock (might not be the same one now) and it was fine. Before that I used the alarm on my wristwatch. Now I use my phone.

The reason I purchased an alarm clock in addition to my modern technology is because I found there wasn't always a plug near the bed for my iPod or phone; whereas, a battery alarm clock can sit anywhere. As I've found out that the iPod or whatever, needs to be plugged during the night or I risk not having it work. The added small alarm clock is peace of mind that I will wake up at the correct time. I, too, had one that was my mothers that worked for 20 years...no new battery, but I could not find an equal replacement, but I think this RS version will work fine.

It is fine. I use it for my alarm clock here at home.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm going to go ahead and buy it.

We have taken 14 trips to Europe in the last 15 years and always take along our RS travel alarm clocks that we purchased from the RS store. Since we do not have any smart phones of any type we have always relied on our RS alarm clocks and they have never failed us.

I guess I got the bad one. I bought one 4 or 5 years ago, the alarm is no longer as loud as it was when knew. Still works though., just not loud enough to wake me up. RS would probably replace it, but since I use my phone I don't find the need for a dedicated alarm clock.

We bought one but found it not loud enough. We have a little square one we bought at Walmart years ago that still works great. Smartphone apps also work well.
