RS Packing cube size vs. Eagle Creek cubes?

Hi, I've looked at the Rick Steves packing cubes, and also the ones made by Eagle Creek. I wanted to ask for the thoughts of those who use them about their size. The RS cubes look great and have a great price, but does the 5" depth work out? My only concern is if they are too tall, as compared to the EC at about half the depth. Do you fill the RS cubes, or do they end up half empty? If the RS cubes are as soft as they look, I am worried the contents would not be supported, and able to move around too much.

I've seen posts on how useful they are, but I can't find comments on their physical size and if that size works.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Roy - the sizes for the RS cubes are on the details on his store:
Custom Fit: The one large (14"x11"x5") and two small (7"x11"x5") cubes are custom-made to fit perfectly inside all of our large travel bags.

I have the new and old ones, and as mentioned before - prefer the eagle creek brand (hold the shape). I still take an RS one too tho = still good for organizing. I do fill mine up (and i pref the 1/2 cubes x3) easier for me to arrange. Fill them up with socks and under, then one with tshirts and long sleeves in a third. A light sweater too unless you wear it.

Tom,

Thanks, I appreciate it. I guess I didn't ask my question very well. I actually know the dimensions of the RS cubes, I was trying to ask any of those who use them if they found them too big, or too "floppy", to be effective.

Sorry for the confusion!

I don't know if the extra 2" of height will make that much difference. I guess that would depend on how much stuff you're packing. (short trip or long). I can see what you mean though, if the Rick Steves cubes are very soft they may not help that much with keeping things organized. Can anyone who has them help out? Are they rigid enough to keep things organized, or are they too soft to provide much support?

I have a set of the RS cubes. If I pack them full and tight, nothing shifts and everything stays organized.

That makes sense Tim! Do you guys find that you usually fill the entire cube? Do you carry enough clothing/stuff to fill the 5" deep cubes, or is it more room then you normally need?

We have the RS packing cubes, and have used them with success. The best trick tho' in my opion, is to pack shirts in lge ziplocke, and fold your pants around them...really helps with the wrinkles.
