Hi from a newbie !
I’m spending Christmas and New Year in the Algarve!
I’ve got my route down planned (and booked) .
I’ll be stopping in Tours , San Sebastián and Salamanca.
Ideally, I think I’d like a different route back to The Chunnel, with one(?) night stops.
I’m driving solo with my dog so am aiming to drive 5-6 hrs per day……. I’ve not decided on the day I’ll leave the algarve yet so an extra stop (4) is totally possible!
Has anyone who has done this trip before or similar got any suggestions or recommendations for a gung-ho amateur road tripper seeking winter warmth!!
If you are taking a dog from France to UK through the Chunnel the dog must be 1. Microchiped 2. Have timely Rabies shots and 3. Have an Animal Health Certificate. There is an at least a $23.00 entry fee per pet. If you have come from the UK in the 1st place, you should check to see what is required before you leave.
Hi , thanks for your reply.
The dog is organised and sorted thank you. He has all the necessary and a driver who knows how she is going to get him to a Portuguese beach for Christmas.
What he does need, however, are some suggestions/recommendations for his driver as to a good and interesting route back from the Algarve to the Chunnel.
(See original post !)
Thanks !
Cross the border near Biarritz.
Possible stop in Bayonne. Then Bordeaux.
Consider any of Nantes, Rennes, Honfleur, Abbeville, depending on driving endurance.
