My name is Angela Gonzalez and I planing to fly from the USA to Zurich., spend 3 days in Zurich, rent a car and going south to Lausanne. We will drive to Croatia. My question is where I should stay more days, in Split, Zagreb or Dubrovnik. Or can I stay in one town and do daily trips. Thank You

You need to make sure that a car you rent in Switzerland is insured, etc., to take into Croatia. Some rental agencies have restrictions on taking cars into Eastern Europe.

I have only done preliminary research into a Croatia trip and Dubrovnik looks more attractive to me.
