Round trip flight cheaper than open jaw - Can we get off at our layover?

We need to get to Germany for a wedding and plan to fly home from Norway 3 weeks later. I've found a round trip flight from the US to Oslo with a layover on the way there in Vienna. This is significantly cheaper than flying into Germany or Austria and flying home from Norway. Is it possible to get off at Vienna and not take the connecting flight to Oslo? Are there any repercussions that I'm not thinking of? We will be carrying our bag on so no checked luggage to deal with. Thanks for any info!

If you don't complete your trip the rest will be cancelled.

You don't mention where in Germany you need to visit, but just be aware that if you're considering flying into Vienna, this is a few hours away from the nearest point in Germany (probably Passau), and possibly a whole day's worth of ground transportation for cities further away. The cost of these long trains rides can be substantial, so make sure you include that in your calculations.

What are your exact travel requirements including dates? We almost always fly open jaw and rarely find that the open jaw ticket is more expensive than a RT tickets and sometimes cheaper. Are you sure you are pricing the open jaw ticket correctly? It is not two, one-way tickets.

Thanks all! I figured it couldn't be that simple so I'm glad I asked. We've searched kayak.com as well as several specific airlines for the "multiple destination" option. I prefer Skyscanner but haven't figured out how to do anything other than standard round trip and one way there. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Our plan is to fly from the Washington, DC area on/about 13 August and return between 3 and 6 September. The wedding is to be held in Berchtesgaden, and we plan to spend a most of the trip in Germany, the Netherlands, and possibly Austria traveling by train (but aren't opposed to visiting other areas if that works out). We would love to visit Norway at the end of the trip and fly back from there if we can find a reasonable way to make that work out.

Ideal preferences would be to fly into Munich or Salzburg and out of Oslo.

Check to see if Icelandic Airlines has any better fares. They should fly through Iceland--with free layovers--to those destiinations.

After a recent layover coming out of Prague (thru Vienna) to Chicago, I certainly will never check a bag on a connecting flight. I want as direct a flight as is possible.

How much cheaper are you seeing than what George found? That is a good price for that time of year.

Thanks all. The painful part is that a week earlier I was seeing flights under $900. However we were still waiting for my husband's boss to give formal approval for his time off. Oh well.
