rooming in Bacharach

Any suggestion of where to stay for 2 nights in Bacharach. Looking for a nice room for rent. Prefer a private family setting, type housing. Hostels or B&B are fine also. Thanks in advance

Lynda, I would highly recommend Pension Lettie. It's an easy walk to the station, the rooms are very comfortable and Lettie is wonderful! She serves a great breakfast! There is an HI Hostel there, (Burg Stahleck) which is in a Castle, but it's on top of a hill above town so not as easy to get to. It's usually booked WELL in advance most of the time with school and family groups. Happy travels!

I second Pensione Lettie, we've stayed there twice and we love it. Lettie is an absolute doll. Speaks perfect English and is very helpful for info about the local area.

Burg Stahleck is one of my favorite hostels. It's very well run, clean, quiet and a great view of the Rhine. It's always booked up, mostly with Germans, so you have to reserve if you hope to get in. I've also stayed at a Pension in Bacharach, but can't recall if it was Pension Lettie. The cleanliness standards are outstanding at any Pension, so that would be a good choice for a room in private family setting. The one I stayed at only rented a couple of rooms. Some Pensions rent every room in the house so they are more like small hotels.

I stumbled across Im Malerwinkel while trying to get to the Wernerkapelle. It's on the flat land before the climb to Stahleck, back far enough from the train tracks to avoid the noise. I haven't stayed there personally, but heard from a few who have and liked it.
