Does anyone have suggestions for medium (3 stars)rooms in Budapest and Vienna. Three of us will ba traveling by car, and we will need secure parking and air conditioning. I have read Rick's tips and Lonely Planet's. Any other ideas/hints will be most welcome.
For Budapest, try inhungary.com
For Vienna, Hotel/Apartments Lichtenstein
google both destinations
Vienna Hotel Admiral(www.admiral.co.at) Just outside the old town free parking nextdoor.
Hi Ann ... I agree with the advice you have received thus far. I have been to Vienna numerous times, but never to Budapest. If you have an interest in music and literature, you may like to know that Mozart had an apartment in the Vienna location where Pension Nossek is today. Also, the famous writer, Franz Kafka, resided for a time in Hotel Graben. Both of these accomodations are centrally located .. actually about 2 or 3 blocks apart. You may obtain details via Google.com. Gute Reise! P.
P.S.
I should have mentioned that we have taken rooms in both Vienna's Pension Nossek and Hotel Graben at least three times each. Both are fine establishments. When you book ANY hotel / pension room, it is wise to stipulate you do not want a room on the noisy street side nor adjacent to any noisy hotel café, casino, etc. Even great hotels have such rooms ... and you deserve better.
Hope your trip is all you want it to be... P.
