Rome to Switzerland itineary?

Dear all
Am first time going to Erope area and hope to go to Italy as friends say the food is nice there. Also want to go Switzerland to see all the nice scenary.
Any kind soul has any itineary to share? Am really headache now whether should I arrive Rome and depart at Zurich or arrive at Milan and depart at zurich? Worry very rush trip if fr Rome to Zurich?
Am going on December and plan to have 19 days.
Is it going to be very cold as well during End Dec period?
Any help will be really really appreciated. Thank you

"Very cold" is relative, but you can definitely expect snow and freezing temperatures in Switzerland, highs around the 5-10C mark in Milan and 10-15C in Rome.
I would avoid Switzerland before 10 December because the mountain resorts will be partly shut down; they typically open for winter season around that date.
Over 19 days/18 nights you could spend:
- 4 nights in Rome on arrival
- 3 in Florence
- 3 in Venice
- 2 in Milan
- 4 in the Berner Oberland région of Switzerland
- 2 in Luzern
and fly home from Zurich

This is just a suggestion off the top of my head! There are many possibilities.

It will be the beginning of ski season in the Berner Oberland, so most everything will be open and lodging prices will be at their lowest for the winter season. Christmas markets will be open.
