Rome Passes

What is the best pass to purchase in Rome (Roma, Archaeological, etc.) for a three day stay. We are leaving Friday this week (8/31/2012)?

Sorry, but you are just going to have to do the math on this yourself. We don't know what you have planned to do, or how much you would benefit from each. Add up the admissions for whatever you want to see that is covered by the pass, and see how it compares to the cost of the pass. Keep in mind not just how many things are covered but how long you need to allow to do each. I hosted a Spanish friend in Chicago awhile back, and we considered getting a Chicago card. The card listed a great number of things it covered, but once we factored in how long it would take to do each thing (how many we could actually fit into a day), just paying individual admissions and a daily bus pass was far cheaper. You are the only ones who know just what you are interested in doing.

Kyle, I purchased a Roma Pass a couple of years ago and found it well worth the money. I did use it for the Coleseum and other included sites in the city. I also used the included Metro Pass extensively. As the previous poster said, you will have to do the math for the things you want to do and the sites you want to see.

My B&B has already picked up two Roma passes for me (I'll pay them cash when I arrive). For me time frequently is money and I hate wasting either. The Roma pass allows you to skip the line for first two sites and a discount on all the others. Plus it's a three day transit pass as well. The bus system is easy to figure out as is the metro. I do, however, use taxis a lot in Rome in order to save time on longer trips say Termini to the Vatican. With the Roma pass you'll be fully occupied during those three short days.

We were in Rome for three days and the pass was well worth the money. You can use it for entrance to the Borghese Gallery (reservations required.)

Kyle, all (or nearly all) of the sites on the Archaeological Pass are also on the Roma pass. The Roma pass includes public transportation, the Archaeological Pass does not. I used both when I was in Rome for two weeks, because the Archaeological Pass was good for 7 days; the Roma Pass is good for 3. For 3 days, I would suggest the Roma Pass; 3 months ago it was 30 euro.
