Rome, Paris, London Hostel Recommendations Anyone?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any hostel recommendations for Rome, Paris, or London?? I will be in each city for 4-5 nights.

I am interested in a hostel that has a good location, friendly and fun/young atmosphere, and affordable --> preferably less than $60/night. I dont mind staying in large dorm style rooms.

Let me know if you have any recommendations or really great experiences! Thank you!

Abby,

You might have a look at the HI HOSTELS website, as they have properties in each of the cities you mentioned (often more than one, in different parts of each city). Having an inexpensive HI membership provides slightly cheaper rates and preferred booking over non-members.

In Rome you might also have a look at THIS Hostel which is close to Termini station. I've stayed there numerous times, and the found the quality to be consistently good. However, I should mention that the breakfast is a bit "spartan" so not as good as some other Hostels.

Happy travels!

In Paris the MIJE hostel is in a good location and I did talk to a 25 yr old Australian girl who was quite happy with it.
A co worker of mine stayed at the St Christophers in Paris.. she was 18 at the time and thought it was fine.. but not as central.. this was the one by Canal St Martin.. however.. St Christophers has opened one by Gare Du Nord.. which is a bit more central but not a great area to me ( its a bit "gritty") .

I second the MIJE hostels in Paris-- great value and not as cramped as other Paris hostels. The atmosphere is calm and low key.

Check out some of the hostel booking/rating sites, such as hostelz.com and hostelbookers.com. When I was hosteling a lot I would usually pick one of the highest rated places on those sites.

Hostel beds in even these big Western European cities generally go for $35 a night or less. I was usually willing to spend a few more dollars for a smaller room (4 or 6 beds vs 8 to 12 for instance) if that was an option.
