Rome or Paris-Christmas

Hi! I will have about a week off during Christmas season. Would you recommend me to be in Rome or in Paris for Christmas? (I've never been to these cities and I'll be traveling by myself, ...it is not my first time to Europe). I cannot decide and both cities look amazing! Please let me know where you would prefer to spend Christmas( Rome or Paris) and why? Thank you in advance for your help. PS. I love history, food, art, music, shopping, just be on the street and see different people, and I love to walk most of all. (i'm okay with spending money be it in Rome or Paris). What I don't like is a cold weather but I can put on more jacket :) Thank you again! Xx

The weather is almost certain to be better in Rome. Paris is wonderful. Both will offer exactly what you are looking for. I'm sure others will chime in with what it's like over Christmas - what's special, what's closed. Other than that consideration, I think you'll be very happy with either. Toss a coin. Go back next year for the other one.

I spent Christmas week in Rome a few years ago and it was magical. Make sure you know what restaurants are open on 12/24 evening and next day. I think metro and museums were closed on 25th. I thought the weather was great (mid 50's, some rain), but I currently live in MN so what do I know. It seemed balmy to me, but then our last snow just melted this week-end and it is still piled high in the shopping centers. Walking through the streets of Rome on your way to midnight mass and listening to church bells play Adeste Fidelis is one of my most memorable experiences (and I am not Roman Catholic.)
