We just got back from Rome. In RS book he mentions the Forum Walk. There is one price ticket now for Forum, Palantine Hill and Colloseum You cannot get through the Arch of Titus with the ticket. The ticket window by the arch is closed and the only one is up the street..marked on RS map.
ALSO we found MOST helpful a little 8 euro book we bought at the free tourist center across from the Forum area..there are also WC there. It is a book about the Forum that shows what the ruins/buildings looked like in their prime..vERY HELPFUL

Kathie, did you buy the ROMA PASS, or is that not going to apply to the Forum/Colloseum anymore?

We used the ROMA Pass for the Colloseum Forum...recommend it.
we saw gypsies etc..only time we ever noticed anyone trying to pickpocket us we on a very very crowded communte train from Naples to Sorrento..it was 5 15 pm..bad timing....didn't get anything
Just be smart about it....where the money belt or neck thing. I didn't even carry a purse. We carred the one little knapsack during the day and eve. We had some Cargo pocket pants and kept a few bucks for convenince in there.
We took the metro from our hotel...Romae Hotel a few blocks from the termini...to colloseum etc. it was fine.
It was poruing rain when we walked around Pompeii and the colloseum..other than that weather was fine...we had rain jacket and each had a fleece layer and of course a pashmina scarf..I used it alot around my neck!
We took a small umbrella but can buy them if you need them. We were in Roma, Firenza, Cinque Terra, Siena and Sorrento. Weather was about the same everywhere!
