Considering a Med cruise next November. We've never been to this part of the world. I know it's off season, but can we still expect an enjoyable visit?
If it's Rome and points South, I would expect nice weather most of the time with occasional rain and cool nights. Not a bad time to tour the Southern part of Europe.
I do not recommend going to the islands of Greece in November. There can be many days of rain in November.
I've said this on another thread, but in November 2005, Rome was as hot as Texas! I thought it was pleasant!
Chiming in on Rome. I was in Rome last November....but only to the 7th. We had cooler temps, but the sun was out everyday. I wore a jacket in the early morning, but by afternoon it was warmer.
We lucked out and had no rain at all. As always, no one can predict the weather, so plan for the worst. You could hit the week or so that has the best of fall temps, but then again, it could rain every single day!
All this being said, bring a rain coat and a fleece layering piece to be safe.
We found Rome in November to be wonderful, not as busy, but still plenty of tourists. I think fall in Europe is wonderful, and you are south, so you can expect some nice, cooler temps. It doesn't snow in Rome, just rain!
If you get the Mediterranean weather I had in November you will have a great vacation. Mild and sunny. However you know that weather is unpredictable.
As my ole math teacher said, "Go with the Flow". That means enjoy it whatever it is. It certainly cant be cold enough to be uncomfortable.
We've done Milan/Venice/Florence/Cinque/Rome/Naples in April, May, September and early November.
Our favorite - by far - was late October to early November. (about Oct 25 to Nov 15).
Daytime is pretty hot -- evenings are breezy -- moreso as you approach the coast. Take both shorts and a sweater.
I cannot speak to Greece -- haven't been yet (it's on the list!)
