Hello all,
Has anyone used the app Rome 2 Rio recently during your trip? Was it reliable? I've been playing around with it here to plan for things in advance but wasn't sure if it was reliable in real time.
Hello all,
Has anyone used the app Rome 2 Rio recently during your trip? Was it reliable? I've been playing around with it here to plan for things in advance but wasn't sure if it was reliable in real time.
I only use it to research what my transport options are and then go to the provider's site. It had a history of not being up-to-date, and I sure wouldn't buy tickets from it or it's links. Strictly first level research for me.
Absolutely not reliable. It can be handy to point you in the right direction when you are clueless, but it is a secondary source, and direct sources will be reliable, since they are the actual operators for the transport mode.
Thank you MariaF and Sam!
I use it for early-stage trip planning, when looking for creative alternatives to the more-obvious itinerary options I just assume will work - or just browse options for places I'm considering but know little about. I've never used it in real-time while actually on a trip (I suppose I might reference it in an emergency if my original plans collapsed and I needed to come up with a Plan B on short notice).
Like MariaF and Sam have said above, I view details with some skepticism, and cross-check other sources before relying on any.
Thanks, David!
Rome2Rio has come up with real wild and exotic routes and prices - I follow the reports of what people have turned up as entertainment.
Truly wacky stuff. Use it perhaps to get a broad overview but do not trust the results at all.
I used it for years but now I find the same info, if not better, just naturally lives in Google and Google Maps.
And if you ever found something in R2R that you wanted to book, make sure to go to the actual site.
Ditto to all the above. Helpful for identifying options but not reliable for specifics. When R2r tells you about a way to go from A to B, check the websites of the carrier(s) for accurate info and buy from them if appropriate.
I never use it for looking for train transportation time. If I am looking for a bus company that goes between two locations, I will use Rome2rio.com and then head to the bus company website.
Google Maps is actually more useful, as they take data directly from the providers. But they also may miss some timed short connections though.
Thank you all for your input!
