I think it sounds wonderful! I had to look up Craiova and had no idea that it is considered one of Europe's best Christmas markets. Definitely something to think about for the future so thank you for bringing it to my attention! It sounds like a lovely place to visit.

In Sibiu, we stayed at Casa Grinda, which was a very nice place and convenient to everything. They had an excellent restaurant and the stay included breakfast. I don't know the cost, since it was included in our tour, but would recommend it.

I was in Romania this April:
- Sibiu —. Stayed in Casa Luxembourg; very central and very nice. Highly recommended

Note - the last few miles going to the Bucharest airport are under heavy construction. Allow extra time if going during rush hour. Check if there are other roads that will get you to the airport from Brasov that avoid the road from downtown.

Arnold, Bucharest has two airports, Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) and Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport (BBU). The first is the one you most likely arrived at if you were flying a major airline. BBU is the one that Wizzair flies into. You can use the same highway to reach both and right now google maps is showing some issues at 7:30 pm but ways around it as well. But thanks. However, my plan is (was) to fly home from Brasov. There is direct service to Budapest a few days a week and that saves having to return to Bucharest.

But that trip above is maybe more work than I want to mess with; and I got a "what do you mean you are coming to town and you arent staying longer!" complaint from a friend in Bucharest ... so .... maybe I just do Cralova and Bucharest. I will miss Sibiu. The last time I was there was just 2 days and I always wished I had spent more time. But there is some decent fishing in the neighborhood so maybe I save it for better weather. Brasov was never a great thing for me, so I am okay with missing the return to it.

Shorter and Tighter.

Mardee, Arnold, thanks for the hotel.

One of the problems of living here is too many options. So, the other option is Riga. The problem with Riga is that it’s a few days shorter than I would like, but with the flights being what they are I can’t add a day or two, I have to add 4 days and that’s too much. So …..

Thursday, 10 December: Budapest to Riga, 14:20 to 17:10 Air Baltic
Maybe see a bit of the markets that evening. Stay at Neiburgs Hotel.

11 December: Riga
Morning free, evening at Aida at the National Opera and Ballet Theater. Stay at Neiburgs Hotel.

12 December: Riga
There is a restaurant I am very interested in, otherwise no plans yet. Neiburgs Hotel.

13 December: Riga to Budapest, 7:05 to 8:00 Air Baltic

Any other ideas out there for quick trips for good markets?
