Roland Garros and Wimbledon 5 Week Trip

Anyone have any tips for visiting RG and Wimbledon?
RG tickets go on sale next week I already have an official account.
Wimbledon website is a bit more tricky, it seems like I will only be able to buy day of?

I've been to the US Open before and I usually just get cheap grounds passes.
Kinda unrelated by why do people say flying into CDG is awful?

I will tackle the easiest question first, in all our travels CDG is the rudest most difficult airport we have encountered.

Regarding tennis,
Wimbledon. At this point you can pay an extreme amount of money to a third party specializing in providing a Wimbledon experience. Or, you can create a wonderful experience by obtaining your tickets via the Queue (which we have done). Google Wimbledon Queue to find a variety of tips on how to partake in this unique form of obtaining tickets. In our opinion Wimbledon sets the platinum standard for an enjoyable tennis experience.

French Open.

Quite a bit more jam packed event and be prepared to be jostled about, still worthy of attending at least once.

Tickets are a bit more easier to obtain and the site is still open for making purchases. We do not attempt to stay near the grounds, but prefer to stay away form the hustle and enjoy quieter environment after finishing with tennis.

For both events we encourage dressing in casual country club attire with breathable fabrics. We found the attire helped us blend in with the locals and felt more of being part of the experience.

You will find little similarities between the US Open and these events, especially since the food vendors DO NOT gouge your pockets and offer excellent fare. If you are an American and attend on July 4th then please wear some Red, White and Blue and learn how welcoming so many people are to you.

Enjoy!

As somebody who needs a wheelchair at airports, I find CDG the worst airport I’ve ever been. The wheelchair officials at CDG canceled my wheelchair because they said the pilots CHOSE to park the airplane away from the gate and because of that, they chose to cancel the wheelchair. Of course that’s absurd because air traffic control decides where arriving flights go.

ROLAND-GARROS is indeed crowded and you will not have the freedom to see as many top matches as you do at the U.S. Open because unlike the U.S. Open, a grounds pass will make you ineligible to get a seat to at least 3 of the show courts. So if there are at least 5 matches scheduled per court, that’s at least 15 matches you won’t be able to see. With the grounds pass of the U.S. Open, you can go to every court except one, Arthur Ashe. That is why we always get an Arthur Ashe ticket because it’s only a few dollars more than the grounds pass if you get a seat way on top in outer space. So you might want to at least buy a ticket to one of the show courts or a ticket-only outer court so you can at least see some top players.
