Rising Fees at LHR & LGW

We all know the Dollar is declining against the Euro. And some of us know that many airlines have added hefty fuel surchages to their flights. And now, BAA is increasing passenger fees at Heathrow & Gatwick:

I think 2008 will go down as the year of the "very creative budget traveler."

We talk a lot about saving money on hotels and rail...now perhaps some ideas on how to save on air travel--if that's still possible.

I think that travellers will have to look at where they really want to visit in the UK.

If London is your first choice of place to visit then there isn't really a vaible option but to pay the daylight robbery rates of LHR and LGW.

On the other hand if you want to visit the Cotwolds try a flight into Birmingam (BHX) the same goes for visitors to Oxford.

For the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales as well as the northern cities like York and Manchester then Manchester airport (MAN) is ideal.

For Scotland consider flying direct to Glasgow (GLA).

Don't forget that both Manchester and Birmingham fly direct into the major cities of Europe.

Brace yourself for tomorrows UK budget speech - we expect the government to really ramp up the UK air departure tax.

Good grief! As if we're not being squeezed enough on this side of the pond, now we will be having the added pleasure of being robbed of even more of our weak dollar. Fantastic!

I feel sorry for the Brits too.

Thanks for the tips of where to fly in. We'll be staying in Oxford.
