Rick Steves Last Tour of the Year OK?

We are considering taking the RS Istanbul tour 12-18 October. It is the last one of the year.

Has anyone taken this, or any RS tour, that was the last one of the year? Was there anything especially good or bad about taking the last tour of the year?

Weather will likely not be as good - I was in Istanbul in October some years ago and it was cold and cloudy. Otherwise I can't see what difference there would be.

I was in Istanbul last year (2013) from October 20-28. The weather was comfortable, warm days, mostly sunny, and just a bit chilly in the early mornings and in the evenings (long sleeves, light jacket chilly). Sure, the weather is unpredictable, but it certainly beats the heat of even September. There will be fewer crowds of tourists, but still lots of them. I can't think of any reason not to take that one over any other.

I have been to Istanbul a couple of times- once in May and again in October. You may need to wear a coat or jacket and scarf, but since you'll be doing a lot of walking, the lower temps may well be a good thing.

I can't speak for the Istanbul tour but I took the last Village Italy tour of 2013 and it was wonderful. The guide was fantastic, energetic, informative, no end-of-season burnout. Same for the local guides. The weather was fine. I took the last Eastern France tour of the year a few years ago and two group picnics/meals were held indoors due to rain/wind, whereas earlier tour dates had them outdoors. I can't think of a reason not to choose those dates if they fit your schedule.
