Rick Steves is Coming to Sacramento

In case my fellow Sacto peeps don't get emails from ETBD, I just received one you might be interested in. I'll just let you copy and paste the info...http://stjohnslc.org/ricksteves.........And don't forget - the new season of "Rick Steves' Europe" starts with a pledge drive and the episode on Andalucia - Wed, Oct 20, 9p-11p.

I don't know yet - at first I thought, 'hey, we could ALL go as a group', then I saw the price of admission...oy. Sounds like the $$$ goes to a good cause, though...but eating is a good cause, too ;-) I'll have to ponder this in my heart, as my m-i-l says...

OMGosh! I would SO love to attend an "intimate" dinner with the Sacramento Group and Rick! How cool is that! But our daughter is giving me an early birthday present of a 2-week trip to France a week later, so too much going on and I'll need to spend that money in France!

If you want to see/hear Rick for "free," fly up to Seattle (Edmonds) and catch his free travel weekend the end of this month. On the other hand, it would be cheaper just to stay in Sacto and pay to see him..... I flew up there last fall and saw not only Rick, but a bunch of other ETBD folks. It was an interesting weekend in spite of the nasty weather.

Travel as a spiritual act? Like a pilgrimage? Yes for some. For me travel is a recreational act. I'm sure he'll be holding some sort of rally in the area to support the pot initiative - maybe you can attend that one for free.

Brad, I live downwind from his other venues that day; I'll leave the windows open to 'sniff' out anything on that front...;-) I take it you're not taking advantage of his $5 "Travel as a Political Act" offer?!?

I see his price tag's gone up. I heard him talk and chat up a group in Sac a few years back for free at the old Tower Records on Watt Av. He's VERY sharp and witty in person.

I think the $5 Travel As A Political Act deal is only for those of us in California. Darcy, are you saying you would rather spend your time and money in France than to come to Sac? Geeze, where are your priorities? I will have to tell my daughters what your daughter is giving you for your birthday. Hint hint...

I agree - Darcy's priorities are all messed up! (I would have thought so too, Andrea, but) The $5 sales price is also on the website...so no excuse, Brad ;-).........It's just that Belgian beers are a little pricey, and I sure could use that money for beer - I'll promise to watch my "Travel as a Political Act" DVD again as I'm drinking...
