I understand that Rick will make an appearance on The Simpsons today May 11. This is considered an honor and recognition of cultural relevance.
For the unfamiliar, The Simpsons is an animated comedy series for adults, the longest running series of any kind on US television.
Congrats to Rick!!!! Hope I can find the episode here in the UK. When you make it to The Simpsons, you are a cultural touchstone! :-)
The Simpsons are well known throughout the world especially as they are more than 30 years old(I feel old)! I found Germans and even Spanish people know the show.
But congratulations to Rick who now is as famous as the Beatles and Leonard Nimoy in Simpson Land. Saw the preview and Lisa was thinking what I think when I watch his travel shows.
I think it was Rick's 70th birthday yesterday, at least according to Wiki. What a nice birthday tribute.
And now I feel really old, Mary. I first watched Rick when he still traveled with his very young family around Europe. Back when it was called Travels in Europe and Rick used to stick his head out train windows-a big no-no now.

We’re in the middle of our Poland trip at the moment, so no access to our local station to see last nights’s episode with Rick’s cameo, which would’ve been in. the middle of the night here. I did a quick. werner search, and got this, apparently just a whole 24 seconds of Rick, in a dream sequence: (HINT- I first got a window saying, ”Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid.” I just hit “OK,” but then I had to Unmute the sound by clicking in the lower left corner)

But they didn’t quite get a characterization of Rick right; on TV, he’s always got his left hand in his pant pocket while standing or walking, not waving it around!
