There is a Rick Steves Facebook Group. There are often interesting/pretty trip pictures and trip itineraries shared as well as info from RS and various guides. However, people post questions to the facebook group, and I've seen some really bad advice provided. I'm not sure that group is monitored as well as this forum. It is also fairly cumbersome to use as a way to provide information or to troubleshoot for someone. A few times I've suggested that people take the question to the forum. I'm not sure there are actions that can taken other than gently suggesting there are better ways to get information. The information on the forum is quite good hopefully those with questions will find their way here.
I recently joined the Facebook group and have observed the same. People get many comments on their posts, but I think this forum is a much better place to get accurate answers to their questions.
I have had the same impressions you have and like you, have recommended they access the forum. I even provide the link. If it just helps one person, I suppose I have at least done my best to provide advice. And you are correct about the lack of thoughtful monitoring and poor answers. Makes me appreciate the participants in this forum even more than I did before-and that appreciation knew (knows!) no bounds.
