Since I have upgraded to the iOS 11.3 update, my Rick Steve App freezes. I have turned the phone off and back on. I have deleted the App and then added it back, but I am still experiencing the "freeze." Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? Leaving in a few days for Italy and I am anxious to resolve. Thanks!
Not just you same thing happened to me, I also deleted app etc. No other app was affected by the upgrade has to be something with the Rick Steves app.
Here's an update.
There is a way forward for those of you experiencing this problem. We are aware of a freezing issue since the release of iOS 11.3. We are working toward a new release to fix this, but we don’t have a release date at this time.
To address this freezing issue when it happens, you just need to force-quit the app and restart it. You absolutely do not need to shut down your iPhone (or iPad) to use the app again. To force-quit, double-tap your iPhone’s home button. You’ll see our app appear in a tile, possibly alongside other apps that are also in use on your iPhone. Swipe up on our app to force-quit it. Then restart the app.
Force-quitting is a bit different on an iPhone X than other iPhones, so here's a link to show you how that's done (it takes seconds to do once you're familiar with it!). https://ios.gadgethacks.com/how-to/force-close-running-apps-iphone-x-0180043/
Please note that force-quitting any other apps that you aren’t actively using will help free up processing power and help to prevent our app from freezing. Avoiding switching between apps may also help prevent our app from freezing.
Thanks in advance for your patience with the occasional app freeze until we can release a new version of the app in the near future.
This isn't the only app with freeze problems in 11.3. I have it with many of my apps, and I hope that there is soon a fix. I've even had settings freeze.
And my favourite games.
grrrrrrr
Anyway I worked out the force stop idea myself a few days ago and it always has worked.
Love that double tap, swipe up.
jp,
Thanks for posting about this issue. I've been thinking of updating my iOS, but will delay this for awhile until the problems are sorted out. I have some other Apps that are very important and don't want to take any chances of them locking up.
Interesting. I could not get his app to work in Amsterdam in March. I didn't bother to spend much time trouble shooting, just figured I wouldn't use it in the future. Now I'll try it again, but travel being prepared for it to fail. I always have a backup plan...
