Rick Steves 14 day Europe Tour?

Hello, My Husband and I have never been to Europe and are very interested in going on the 14 day Rick Steves Europe Tour. We are planning on going in between our College semesters, which is partly the reason we are interested is because we don't have a whole lot of free time to research! This is a lot of money for us to spend (our wedding wasn't even this much haha) and I was wondering if you felt that it was worth it! Please, any and all feedback would be great!

Hello Nicole, I just finished the RS best of Europe in 14 days 2 weeks ago and I loved the entire experience. I found the tour well worth the cost and would highly recommend it. It was my first time in Europe, so having a tour company take care of all the accomodations, transportation, and lodging was great.

Nicole, Check out the tour reviews on the Tours tab of this website. It contains reviews from people who have taken the specific tour you are interested in and will answer many of your questions and concerns. I haven't taken the 14 day Europe tour but I have been on six Rick Steves tours and I highly recommend them.

Ralph, You can click on the "Tours" tab and find out all the details of this trip. A brief description(from the Tour page): Beginning in Paris, in 14 days you'll experience the must-see sights of the City of Light, followed by a hearty taste of Burgundy, the majestic Swiss Alps, festive Bavaria, the romantic canals of Venice, Renaissance Florence, a countryside stay in Tuscany, and remarkable Rome -- the Eternal City of the Caesars, St. Peter, Bernini and Michelangelo. Nicole, It is my opinion that this trip is worth every penny you will spend on it. It is a wonderful first trip to Europe for you, and it is the easy way to go; as you said, you don't have much time to do the research. The guides on the Rick Steves trips will be very informative with historical details, etc. Yes, this is a lot of money to spend, but everything is covered except a few meals. The hotels are booked for you, transportation is already arranged, you have the tour guide to take you on tours of the cities; admission/tickets to the museums is paid for; it just couldn't be better. It's a "dream" trip. I'd do it if I were you. Just my two cents.

Nicole,
I agree with the previous posters that this tour is worth every penny. This is a great way for a first time traveller to see so much with very little effort to prepare on your part. You will have a professional tour guide and excellent local guides. And I guarantee you will become good friends with many of your tourmates. My wife and I took this same tour in 2006 and met a couple from Seattle that have become two of our closest friends. We have travelled with them several times since, including another RS tour to France in 2008. One of the things that convinced me to book this tour in '06 was looking at some of the scrapbooks on the Tours section of this website.

I wholeheartedly agree with the person who said it'll be worth every penny you spend on it. The planning of what to see is done for you and you'll see the most important things, and you'll learn history and culture. You'll have unforgettable experiences. We took one of Rick's trips last September and it was beyond our expectations. Go - you'll have a marvelous time and you'll find it's definitely worth it!

As Dean mentioned, go to the Tours section and read some of the Scrapbooks for 2011 - particular the one who won 1st prize. They give you a really good sense of what a tour is like.

I am in the group of haven't taken this particular tour. However, I have taken the 21 day tour. It was a marvelous tour to introduce each country. It was well worth the expense and increased my desire for further travel. I learned that I could travel in Europe easily and now I do on a yearly basis. I just got back three weeks ago and planning my next trip.

Debra, Thank you for your response! I am really hoping that this tour will give us the confidence to go to Europe on our own next time. With all this positive feedback I have become convinced that the saving must start now! I bought and read the Rick Steves Europe Through the Backdoor in two days!! I ordered the Art 101 Rick Steves book as well! Anything else I should read?! Thank you for all your responses!
